CASC specialises in software to meet colleges’ needs that are not addressed by or satisfied by commercial products.

FAS is currently in use in 18 Cambridge colleges. Colleges can run their own competitions, or they can configure joint competitions with any number of other (FAS) colleges on a competition by competition basis.

Summary

FAS is extremely flexible and any number and type of competition can be carried out using it. It has been used for:

  • College lectureships and teaching officers

  • Travel awards and prizes
  • Anonymous poetry and arts competitions

  • Online applications
    • Applicants, referees, shortlisters and assessors access the system via a web browser. Supporting documents, references and work samples uploaded to FAS.
  • Easy filtering and deselection of applications
  • Automatic emailing
    • Acknowledgements and reminders sent automatically to applicants and referees.
  • Email merges
    • Emailing to unsuccessful applicants, shortlisted applicants, etc.
  • Payment files
    • Payments to assessors and shortlisters can be calculated and a payment file generated. Payments can also be pushed to PPS if enabled.
  • Reports and statistics
    • Application listings, merged PDFs of application documents, crosstab of shortlisting scores, application and equal opportunities statistics, etc.

Costs

The Colleges’ Administration Software Consortium (or “CASC”) is a trading name for the Office of Intercollegiate Services Ltd.
The charge for using FAS is collected via the OIS levies. Please contact us for the charge applicable to your College.

Technical information

FAS is a web-based system hosted centrally by CASC. It is developed on an ASP.NET platform with Microsoft SQL Server as the back-end database.
